Lieutenant
Robert Burgett is in charge of the Communications Division, known as the
heart of the Sheriff's Office. The Communications Center is the
first responder to any emergency or concern the community may have.
The Communications Officers:
- Receive all
911 calls
- Dispatch all
fire and squad services for Holmes County
- Dispatched
deputies and most local police departments to calls of emergency or
concern
- Answer
incoming phone calls to the Sheriff's Office.
The Officers of this division answer an
average of 325 phone calls per day, which equals 2,275 calls per week and
118,300 calls per year. In 2001, this division dispatched over
15,900 calls. March 1994
saw the installation of the 911 Emergency System in Holmes County.
This has decreased potential delays in response time and has better
pin-pointed emergencies. Communication Officers are trained and
certified in Medical Priority Dispatching; being able to provide basic
medical advise to callers prior to Emergency Medical Service
arrival. This is a vital, often life-saving skill provided by our
Communication Officers. |
